How to Replace the Battery in a Mercedes CLK Key Fob

you can replace the Mercedes-Benz CLK key fob battery yourself. It’s generally considered an easy task, even for someone with no technical experience.

Ease of Replacement:

  • Difficulty level: ★☆☆☆☆ (Very easy)

  • Time required: About 5 minutes

  • Tools needed: Just a small flat-head screwdriver and a new battery (CR2025 or CR2032)

Why it’s easy:

  • No need to reprogram the key after changing the battery.

  • The fob is designed to be opened without damage.

  • It uses a standard coin cell battery you can buy anywhere.

Open the key fob: Use a small flathead screwdriver or a coin to pry open the key fob. There should be a seam running down the middle of the key. Insert the tool into the seam and gently twist to separate the two halves of the fob.

Remove the old battery: Inside, you’ll find a small round battery, typically a CR2025 or CR2032 coin cell. Note the orientation of the battery (the positive side should be facing up). Carefully remove the old battery by either pushing it out or gently prying it out with your tool.

Insert the new battery: Place the new battery into the fob, ensuring it is oriented the same way as the old one (positive side up).

Reassemble the key fob: Snap the two halves of the fob back together, making sure they’re securely aligned.

Replace battery in mercedes clk key fob: Test the key fob: Press the buttons on the fob to ensure it’s working properly. If the fob is still not responding, you may need to re-sync it to your vehicle or check for other issues.

That’s it! Your Mercedes CLK key fob should be good to go with the new battery.

Precautions
– Wear gloves or handle the battery by its edges to avoid corrosion from skin oils
– Dispose of the old battery in accordance with local regulations (many stores offer recycling)
– Avoid touching the circuit board contacts or battery terminals with bare fingers
– Do not use a battery thicker than specified, as it may prevent proper closure or damage the clip
– If the fob does not work after replacement, verify polarity and reseat components before assuming the remote is faulty
