Reset BMW Garage Door Opener

For most BMWs with three HomeLink buttons on the rearview mirror:

1. Switch the ignition to accessory/on mode.
2. Press and hold the two outer HomeLink buttons simultaneously.
3. Keep holding for about 10 seconds, until the indicator changes from solid to rapidly flashing.
4. Release both buttons.

This erases all three programmed HomeLink buttons.

Reprogram the garage door

1. Hold the original garage remote about 1–3 inches (3–7 cm) from the mirror buttons.
2. Press and hold both:
   • The BMW HomeLink button you want to program.
   • The button on the original garage remote.
3. Release them when the BMW indicator becomes solid or flashes rapidly.
4. Test the programmed button.

For a rolling-code opener, briefly press and release the Learn/Smart/Program button on the garage motor. Within roughly 20–30 seconds, return to the BMW and press and release the programmed HomeLink button up to three times. Do not hold the garage motor’s Learn button, since doing so may erase its existing remotes.
