How to Reset BMW Service Indicator

The exact steps vary by BMW model and year, but this works for many BMWs with Condition Based Service (CBS):

  1. Switch the ignition on without starting the engine.
    • Push-button models: press Start/Stop without pressing the brake or clutch.
  2. Wait for warning messages to clear.
  3. How to Reset BMW Service Indicator: Press and hold the trip-odometer reset button for about 10 seconds until the service menu appears.
  4. Briefly press the button repeatedly to select the service item—oil, brake fluid, inspection, brake pads, etc.
  5. Press and hold until “Reset?” appears.
  6. Release, then press and hold again until “Reset successful” appears.
  7. Switch the ignition off.

On some newer models, use the button on the end of the turn-signal stalk instead of the trip-reset button.

Only reset an item after completing the corresponding service. Brake-pad warnings may not reset if the wear sensor was triggered and hasn’t been replaced. If you share the BMW’s year and model—such as “2018 330i”—I can give the exact sequence.
