BMW Vehicle Check Reset: 8 Steps

Vehicle Check is one of the service items in BMW’s CBS (Condition Based Service) system. It records the date and mileage of the vehicle’s comprehensive inspection. It is calculated separately from engine oil, front and rear brake pads, brake fluid, and other service items. When performing a reset, select only Vehicle Check to avoid accidentally resetting other maintenance items.

This method applies to most BMW F-Series and G-Series models:

1. Park the vehicle, select P, close all doors, and do not press the brake or clutch pedal.
2. Switch on the ignition without starting the engine:
   • Most F-Series models: press the START/STOP button once.
   • Most G-Series models: quickly press the START/STOP button three times to enter Diagnostic Mode.
3. Wait until the instrument-cluster messages disappear, then press and hold the trip-reset / 0.0 button for about 10 seconds.
4. When the service menu appears, briefly press the button to scroll through the items until you see:
   Vehicle Check.
5. Press and hold the button until the display shows:
   Reset? or Perform reset?
6. Release the button, then press and hold it again to confirm.
7. Wait until the display shows:
   Reset successful or Reset completed.
8. Switch off the ignition, restart the vehicle, and check the new service interval in iDrive:
   Vehicle Status → Service Requirements.

Note: Only reset the Vehicle Check reminder after the inspection has actually been completed. The exact button sequence may vary depending on the model year and instrument cluster.
