To reset the service indicator on a BMW E60 (5 Series, produced from 2003 to 2010), follow these steps:
-
Turn on the ignition: Insert the key and turn it to position 1 (just before starting the engine, the dashboard lights will be on).
-
Press the trip odometer button: Locate the trip odometer reset button on the instrument cluster (usually on the left side of the speedometer). Press and hold this button.
-
Turn off the ignition: While holding the trip odometer button, turn off the ignition.
-
Bmw e60 service reset: Turn the ignition back on: Now, turn the key back to position 1 while still holding the trip odometer button.
-
Wait for the reset: After holding the button for about 10-15 seconds, you should see a service light appear on the dashboard, which will start blinking and then disappear. The reset is complete once the service indicator is gone or shows the updated service information.
-
Release the button: After the light goes off, release the trip odometer button.
-
Check: Turn the ignition off and then back on to verify that the service light is reset.
This procedure will reset the service interval counter for oil changes, inspections, and other scheduled maintenance tasks. If you have a BMW with iDrive, the reset process can be done through the iDrive system as well, under the vehicle's service menu.
