If you’ve changed the engine oil and filter on your 2019 BMW X3, you’ll need to reset the oil service reminder manually. Follow the steps below:
-
Start the car without pressing the brake.
Press the Start/Stop button once to turn on the ignition (accessory mode). Do not start the engine.
-
Wait for all dashboard lights to come on.
Make sure the instrument cluster is fully powered on.
-
Press and hold the Odometer Reset button.
This button is located on the lower-left of the instrument cluster. Hold it for about 10 seconds.
-
The service menu will appear.
After holding the button, a menu will pop up showing various service items.
-
Use the Odometer Reset button to scroll.
Press the button briefly to scroll through the list until you see "Engine Oil" or "Oil Reset."
-
When "Engine Oil" is displayed, press and hold the button.
Hold it for a few seconds until "Reset?" appears on the screen.
-
Press and hold again to confirm reset.
Once "Reset?" is shown, hold the button again until the screen confirms the reset was successful.
-
Turn off the ignition.
Press the Start/Stop button again to turn everything off.
-
Start the engine to verify.
Start the car and check if the oil service light has been reset.
Note:
If the reset fails or the menu doesn’t show up, ensure all doors are closed and the car is not in motion. Sometimes, multiple attempts may be needed.
